djedna.com is a digital consultancy for the do-it-yourself (DIY) musical artist. We provide services ranging from complete website creation, hosting, and management to general digital distribution technical and business advice for even the most hobbyist of do-it-yourselfers.

One of our main areas of expertise is around the digital distribution software package, DJ Edna. That’s because we created it. DJ Edna is an open-source software project that aims to make it easy for the DIY musical artist to create and manage their own digital distribution rather than relying on a middleman service like the iTunes music store who takes a cut of every sale. Although we’re the world experts in all things DJ Edna, we can also help you with other open-source packages that DIY musical artists may want to use online including Wordpress for your blog and Gallery for your images and video.

Why so cheap?  First and foremost, we want to enable artists.  We believe that artists should be taking control of their own careers and distribution.  We also know that most DIY artists don’t have a lot of money to spend.  In the past, this lack of capital led artists to sign bad deals with record labels that were not in the artists’ best interests (i.e. giving away most recording income or signing away copyrights).  The only way to break this trend is to make it cheap for artists to do-it-themselves.  Equipment costs have already made it affordable for artists to record and produce their own music, we want to do the same for distribution of that music.
